A case of Scale

The mobile shows the planets in the correct order, but it would be impossible to build it to scale. Why, you may ask? Well here's why…

If the earth was the size of a grape, then the sun would not only have to be the size of a person but would also have to be located 150 metres away from the earth. The moon would have to be 30cm away from our grape-sized earth. Jupiter, the biggest planet in the Solar System, would have to be 750 metres away from our human-sized sun and about the size of a grapefruit!
