History

It is believed that the idea for Father’s Day can be traced to Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington. On Mother’s Day 1909 she first had the idea for a Father’s Day. Her mother had died in childbirth, leaving her father to raise 6 children alone. His efforts were appreciated by Sonora and Father’s Day was born.

Chances are that your Father did not have to bring up 6 kids single handedly but chances are you’ll want to thank him for his dedication to your upbringing.
