Still trying to figure out what to wear to that New Year’s Eve party? Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered!

The first step is to know what kind of party you’re attending. Is it a formal affair or a casual get-together? Is it a theme party? Are you with friends or family?

Since there are probably a gazillion different kinds of New Year’s Eve parties, I thought I’d try and come up with absolutely bitchin’ outfits for ten of the most popular parties you can host or go to before the clock strikes midnight.

So, let’s check them out!

1. All-white party

It’s New Year’s Eve – you have to go all out.

That’s why I would never dream of letting you attend an all-white party without wearing a head-to-toe white ensemble.

I’m talking crisp white shirt, tailored white trousers, and sparkling white heels so tall you’d be able to see your future.

To add a touch of glamour, I would accessorize with STATEMENT earrings and a shimmering, champagne-coloured clutch bag.

And of course, no outfit is complete without the perfect makeup. For an all-white party, I’d say go for a chic updo, smoky eyeshadow, and nude lips.

With this outfit, you’re guaranteed to turn heads and start the new year off on a glamorous note.

2. Black-tie event

If you’re lucky enough, which I’m positive you are, to be invited to a black-tie New Year’s Eve party this year, I may just have the perfect outfit for you.

First, start with a little black dress that hugs your curves in all the right places. We’re all about snatched waists this year, so make sure you really make those curves pop.

Then add some sassy heels and glittery jewellery, but keep it classy. Sass and class go together, you just have to make it work.

For your makeup, I’d go for a striking look. Think bold red lips, dark eyeshadow, and a sleek low bun.

You’ll be the belle of the ball in this outfit!

3. Bar and club hopping

If I were going bar and club hopping for New Year’s Eve, (which I won’t do because I’m too old at this point) my perfect outfit would be a little gold dress paired with some killer boots.

I would also accessorize with some understated jewellery and I’d definitely need a smaller handbag since I won’t be in any one place for too long.

Now, my hair would be styled in loose waves, and I would have just enough makeup so it looks like I didn’t bother, but I actually did.

I would look sexy, but not overly done up. After all, I want to look like I’m ready to party, but also hit the bed as soon as I’m done. Basically, I’d try to be comfortable enough to dance all night, achieve a look that won’t fall apart after my fifth shot, but also be stylish enough to turn heads.

Sounds rather easy, right?

4. Rave

If I were you and I were going to a rave for New Year’s Eve, I would definitely need to step up my outfit game.

First of all, it would have to be something skin-tight and dazzling so that I could really stand out on the dance floor. So, sequins or beads. Actually, I’d probably wear something black as there’s no chance anyone else would.

Of course, no rave outfit would be complete without some killer accessories like an over-the-top headpiece, like a jewelled tiara or glittery bunny ears. Also, I might just do some body paint.

Finally, I would need a pair of shoes that are both comfortable and stylish so I can dance.

And, if by now it isn’t obvious I’ve never been to a rave and I have no idea what you should wear, I don’t know what to tell you. Just go have fun and wear whatever!

5. Dinner party

These ones I’ve done, and let me tell you – these are all about your company. But, we’re not here to talk about your boring friend or your overly curious family – we’re here to talk about outfits.

So, for a dinner date, I’d go with something casual but chic. Think of a statement jumpsuit or dress in a head-turning colour paired with high-heel sandals and an oversized clutch.

Now, some of you may want something a bit more subdued, and that’s fine.

However, New Year’s is supposed to be festive, and when I think of festive, I think of radiant colours!

Also, I’d make sure my makeup is on point. A strong brow, a soft but colourful eye shadow to match my outfit, and some high-quality nude lipstick so I can eat in peace.

6. Masquerade

This one kind of depends on the theme, but still – masquerades are always fun.

For a classic masquerade look, I’d go for an all-black ensemble – think of a long dress in black lace (or velvet if you’re feeling adventurous), paired with elegant gloves and a dark devilish mask.

And, of course, don’t forget some sassy heels to complete your mysterious look.

If you want to be a bit more daring, there are plenty of vibrant options! A red ball gown with feather accents or a light cream suit with a gold mask – the possibilities are endless.

I don’t know how any of these would just slay!

7. House party

You have two options here – the “I don’t care” or “I am the star” outfit. And, quite frankly, it all depends on who you want to be.

I prefer to be the star, so I’d go for something a bit more flashy. A tight jumpsuit would be perfectly paired with some simple black heels and an eye-catching mini handbag. It would also be super comfy and easy to dance in, so that’s a bonus.

Now, if you’re feeling the “I don’t care” option, you could very well go with some nice jeans, a t-shirt and some trainers. Easy, comfortable and perfectly suitable for a house party.

8. Holiday-themed party

I don’t know about you, but I’m rocking my ugly sweater from high school (it’s actually from last year because I’m a sucker for ugly sweaters).

But, if you’re looking to be more stylish than I am, then a nice red blazer and pants with some heels and a Santa hat would be perfect.

Alternatively, you could just wear a velvet dress with some candy cane earrings and an adorable elf hat. There are so many options – just have fun and choose.

9. Pyjama party

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you should probably wear pyjamas.

Yes, a cute onesie, kigurumi or even a classic silky robe would be perfect for this type of party. Plus, you can add some fun accessories like fuzzy slippers to complete the look.

Of course, you could also just wear an old t-shirt and shorts – whatever you’re comfortable in. After all, this is a pyjama party – the point is to be cosy!

10. Afterparty

At this point, the focus is pretty much on keeping the clothes clean, heels in one piece and lipstick from smearing. So, I’d go for whatever it was that got you to the party in the first place.

But, word of advice. If you know you’re going to end up at an afterparty, make sure you bring an extra pair of shoes because walking home after a whole night in heels is not an experience I wish on any of you.

Also, bring some skincare essentials because there’s a good chance you’re crashing on somebody’s couch, and it’d be nice if you could at least give your skin a proper send-off before you pass out!

Conclusion

Well, that’s a wrap!

Now, many of these are just suggestions. Everyone has their own style, so you should definitely wear whatever makes you feel your best, y’know? In the end, it’s all about having fun and being happy!
